Michael Tadych was appointed the Director at VA Puget Sound Health Care System (VAPSHCS) on May 1, 2017, after previously serving as the Acting Director since January 2016 and the Deputy Director as of 2012. Mr. Tadych is responsible for overseeing the highest complexity medical centerin VHA, a two-division facility with seven community-based outpatient clinics. Mr. Tadych began his VA career in May 1996 at the Hines VA Medical Center in Illinois as a Social Work Intern on an inpatient substance abuse unit. In 1999, he moved on to the Grand Junction VA Medical Center,where he served in a variety of positions that include being the Risk Manager, Patient Safety Manager, Administrative Officer, and the Chief of Clinical Support Service. With a Bachelor of Science Degree in Economics from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1989, Mr. Tadych went on to get his Master’s Degree in Social Work from Chicago’s Loyola University in 1997. In 2009, he graduated from the VHA Executive Career Field Candidate Development Program and completed the VISN 18/19 Leadership Development Institute in 2003 and the VHA Health Care Leadership Development Program in 2007. Mr. Tadych is presently a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives and Fellow of the VHA Mentor Program.

Ms. Sherrill brings with her 22 years of VA experience in leadership and health care administration in roles such as Acting Deputy Director at VA Puget Sound and Acting Director for Diagnostics & Imaging Service and Chief for Social Work Service at VA Puget Sound as well as Acting Chief of Staff for Mental Health, Roseburg VA Health Care System. Ms. Sherrill started her career with the VA in 1996 at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System (VAPAHCS) as a social worker in the acute inpatient care setting. She has further experience in management and leadership through her experience as a Health System Specialist for the VA National Program for Spinal Cord Injury & Disorders (SCI/D) Services where she provided oversight of the VA/Department of Defense SCI/D initiatives. Ms. Sherrill earned a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from California State University in Fresno and a Masters of Social Work from California State San Jose University. She is a graduate of the VISN 21/22 Leadership Development Institute and the VAPAHCS Emerging Leadership Development Program.

Catherine P. Kaminetzky was appointed as Chief of Staff for VAPSHCS effective May 28, 2017, after serving as the acting Chief of staff since March 2016. Prior, she served as the Associate Chief of Staff, Education and Director of the Center for Education & Development since 2010. Additionally, Dr. Kaminetzky practices and teaches outpatient medicine in VA Puget Sound Health Care System’s Seattle Primary Care Clinic, and is an Associate Professor at the University of Washington. Prior to joining VA Puget Sound, she was the Associate Chief of Staff, Education at the Durham VA Medical Center beginning in 2007. After completing her undergraduate degree at Stanford, a Masters in Public Health - Epidemiology from the University of North Carolina, School of Public Health, Chapel Hill, she graduated from Duke Medical School, during which she was granted a Howard Hughes Medical Research award. She completed her internal medicine residency training at Duke. Her research interests include medical education and clinical education in ambulatory medicine.

Geri L’Heureux was appointed the Deputy Director, Patient Care Services at VA Puget Sound Health Care System on Oct. 1, 2018. Prior to joining VA Puget Sound, she was the Vice President of Patient Care Services and Chief Nursing Officer at the Pacific Alliance Medical Center in Los Angeles, California. There she managed the operation of all clinical services including pharmacy, radiology diagnostics, cardiopulmonary, laboratory, environment of care, infection control and nursing services. In addition, she served as an Adjunct Professor at Mount St. Mary’s University in Los Angeles, and oversaw compliance with international Joint Commission accreditation for the Angel Hospital Corporation in Shanghai. She has served in various health care leadership positions from the management of nursing operational functions at a 420-bed, full-service, acute care hospital (included psychiatric unit and emergency services), to oversight of nursing operations at a 142-bed hospital that provided acute rehabilitation, perinatal services, inpatient psychiatric and emergency department services. After completing her undergraduate degree in Nursing from Mount St. Mary’s College in Brentwood, California, she received her Master’s in Business Administration and a Master’s in Health Care Administration from University of Phoenix in 2005. She is a member of the following professional organizations: Southern California Patient Safety Collaborative, American Organization of Nurse Executives, American College of Nursing Leaders and Southern California Bioethics Committee Consortium.

Simon Kim was appointed as the Acting Assistant Director for VA Puget Sound Health Care System in August 2017. He has served as the Section Director for Community and Residential Care Services, which includes oversight of the Mental Health Residential Rehabilitative Treatment Programs (MHRRTP) and Therapeutic Supported Employment Services (TSES) at VA Puget Sound Health Care System since July 2013. Dr. Kim completed his Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at Georgia State University, his clinical internship at VA Palo Alto Health Care System and was a postdoctoral fellow in Clinical Psychology at Stanford University. Prior to joining the VA Puget Sound Health Care System, he worked at the VA Palo Alto Health Care System managing their substance abuse residential rehabilitation treatment program. Dr. Kim is a graduate of Leadership VA (2011) and VHA’s Health Care Leadership Development Program (2015). He is currently engaged in the Executive Candidate Development Program.

Dr. Connie Morantes was appointed as the Acting Deputy Chief of Staff on October 1, 2016. She has served as the Service Line Leader for General Medicine, which includes oversight of Primary Care at ten sites of care within VA Puget Sound, since December 2009. Dr. Morantes obtained her degree as a Doctor of Medicine at UCLA School of Medicine followed by an Internal Medicine residency at the University of Washington Affiliated Hospitals. She was Chief Resident at the Seattle VA from 1993- 1994 and joined the VA as a staff physician in July 1994. She brings with her extensive clinical experience as a front-line physician as well as operational experience running a large clinical service.
